Maxim has strengthened its consumer PR team having been joined by Georgette McCready, an experienced former journalist and writer.

Georgette joins the 10 strong team of Tunbridge Wells-based Maxim following a career in journalism, having been Group Features Editor for Bath Newspapers and Features Editor for the highly respected Bath Chronicle.

Georgette began her journalism career as a trainee reporter on the Sussex Express, Lewes, and then went on to work for The Kentish Times series and Kent Evening Post, before moving to the west country.

Maxim currently provides media relations support for a wider range of businesses looking to reach the public, including: VisitKent; Benenden Hospital; Westwood Cross, the retail and leisure development in Thanet and Groombridge Place Gardens. The team notably delivered the PR campaign for last year’s visit of the Tour de France and KCC’s Go Cycle Kent campaign, which delivered UK press coverage, valued by Cision – the media monitoring company – at more than £5million.

Andrew Metcalf, director of Maxim said: “Increasingly we are being called upon by our clients to link them to a wide range of consumer issues and Georgette’s experience in this arena will help develop and deliver editorial features and build upon our longstanding relations with the region’s media.

“Being able to quickly grasp a subject matter and distil it into an enjoyable and thought-provoking read is an art and one which, as an effective and professional communicator, Georgette is ideally suited.”

Commenting upon her arrival, Georgette said: “I had experienced Maxim’s press service from the other side and was impressed by their understanding of what journalists want. Joining the team is a great opportunity for me to develop new skills and it makes a refreshing career change.”

Georgette, 48, has two grown-up children and lives in Hawkhurst on the Kent-Sussex border. She enjoys cross-country running, music festivals, camping and the company of good friends.
