Ightham Mote – a remarkable National Trust property

Preparing for the future of the 700-year-old moated manor house in Kent

Brief

  • To support the National Trust’s proposals to restore Ightham Mote’s historic walled garden and north drive, as well as plans to create a new visitor centre, shop, and improved car parking.

Results and highlights

The proposals are currently the subject of a planning application, and Maxim’s work to date has seen us:

  • Develop a communications plan, including mapping local stakeholders, preparing the consultation plan and timetable for the announcement of the proposals.
  • Preparing a comprehensive list of questions and answers around the project to ensure consistency of communication, requiring Maxim to work closely with the National Trust’s property team, architects and planning advisers.
  • Supporting communication with the local community and residents, including helping to organise leaflet distribution and advertising the public exhibition in the local press.
  • Writing all the content for a series of exhibition panels and website, including working closely with the National Trust’s graphic designers and architects to ensure all communications collateral was delivered in time for the public exhibition.
  • Managing the public announcement of the project, as well as media relations and securing television coverage which included face-to-face interviews at the visitor attraction.
