Brief

  • Renowned as the Garden of England, Kent is home to many fantastic producers of food and drink. Thanks to Produced in Kent, the county now has a champion, and its role needs to be promoted. 

  • A key aspect of Produced in Kent’s work is to nurture and stimulate purchasing of food and drink by local residents and businesses which cater for them and visitors to the county. 

  • Highlight the role of Produced in Kent and partners in supporting the rural economy thanks to its funding from Kent County Council and Hadlow College. 

  • Generate significant media coverage during the launch of specific initiatives and events, such as the Taste of Kent Awards.


Results and highlights

  • Produced in Kent joined forces with CAMRA to celebrate Kent’s rich heritage in the production of beer and hops. The awareness campaign aimed at increasing local consumption secured strong media coverage thanks to Maxim. 

  • Other successful campaigns included: National Asparagus Week involving Marco Pierre-White; promoting the Produced in Kent Canterbury Food Fair; and the ‘Flavours of the Region’ Young Chef Culinary Competition. 

  • Highlighting Kent’s pre-eminence as the nation’s best producer of asparagus and its work with Marco Pierre-White led to significant media coverage. 

  • The Taste of Kent Awards recognise and reward the achievements of local producers, retailers and restaurants. Maxim’s promotion of the Awards through the press saw a 42% increase in the level of public voting. 

  • Launching the Kent Wine Trail, Maxim successfully secured significant BBC Radio Kent and BBC South East Today coverage. 

  • Produced in Kent is now widely recognised as the county’s food and drink champion.
