‘Fantastic response’ to media awards

April, 2015

More than 100 individuals submitted 143 entries to the first Kent Press & Broadcast Awards, a scheme that celebrates those working in the media.

Organised by Tunbridge Wells PR agency Maxim, the scheme rewards the skills and expertise of the county’s journalists – whether they work in print, online, TV or radio.

Maxim’s Rachel Knight said: “We are delighted with the number of entries, especially considering this is a new awards scheme. Although we were sure there would be an appetite for such a programme, it’s fantastic to have had so much positive feedback.

“Some 60 entries were received just hours before the deadline, possibly demonstrating that journalists work best under pressure!”

Shortlist announcement

An independent panel of experts including national journalist Susie Boniface, better known as Fleet Street Fox, Haymarket’s Patrick Fuller, journalist and lecturer Dr Sarah Lonsdale and award-winning TV producer Martyn Gregory, will now judge the entries.

A shortlist will be drawn up for each of the 12 categories with an announcement being made week commencing 11 May.

Shortlisted entrants will be invited to attend the award ceremony, which is being hosted by veteran broadcaster Peter Sissons, on 3 July at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury.

The shortlist will be posted on the Kent Press & Broadcast Awards website at www.kpbawards.co.uk, although shortlisted individuals will be notified by email.
