Maxim helps secure major Kent planning permission

March, 2021

The world’s largest privately owned industrial developer recently secured a major planning success, with a little help from Kent PR and marketing agency Maxim.

Maxim was appointed to undertake stakeholder engagement and media relations activities to support Panattoni’s plans to develop 1.9 million sq ft of high-quality distribution and logistics space in Kent.

Selected for its understanding of the local political landscape and experience in supporting major planning applications, Maxim also worked with the project’s team on the public engagement with the local community.

Andrew Metcalf, who led the Maxim work for Panattoni, said: “Key to the success was developing and then communicating the compelling case for the project. It had all the vital ingredients, including Panattoni’s reputation; the prospect of thousands of news jobs; new infrastructure; a commitment to being a good neighbour, and all on a site that had stood vacant since 2015.

“Sharing the story for the proposed £180m investment in the height of a pandemic was not without its challenges, but detailed project management and many a video call meant we were able to promote the proposed benefits and bring the community with us.”

Commenting on the success, Francesca Linnitt, Head of UK Marketing at Panattoni, said: “It was a fantastic team effort. Maxim’s team was at the heart of it, always at the end of a phone or Zoom and often pre-empting requests for help and advice.

“We joked about it, but if this project is anything to go by ‘I need an Andrew for everything we do’. We look forward to continuing to work with Maxim on Panattoni Park Aylesford as we look to deliver on our promises to the local community.”

Panattoni can now get to work on developing Panattoni Park, Aylesford, and creating the space for businesses to employ 3,000 people, as well as a £7m new link road and multi-million pound package of sustainable transport and environmental improvements.
