Maxim supports Kent’s construction sector

December, 2018

As a board director of Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, Maxim’s Andrew Metcalf presents at the monthly Kent Construction Focus Group (KCFG), the highly successful group that promotes the economic wellbeing of local businesses in the sector.

As a committee member of KCFG, Andrew is tasked with updating members on the key development and infrastructure issues impacting these Kent-based firms, based on information that comes across his desk during the previous month.

Andrew Metcalf, director at Maxim and board director of Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, with KCFG members in festive gear.

This month’s breakfast took a festive theme (hence the polyester shirt) and the annual awards which saw him presented with the ‘unedited’ trophy. We understand the award was for his plain-speaking no-nonsense approach to updating the membership when it comes highlighting commercial opportunities and challenges.

Members also raised £420 for Pilgrims Hospices, which offers care and support for people with incurable illness in East Kent. As part of its ongoing support for the charity, members also took Christmas presents along to the meeting for Pilgrims’ nurses.

KCFG is only open to members of the Chamber and they must be based in Kent and involved in the construction industry. At the end of 2018, KCFG has more than 150 member companies, up 36 on the previous year, and during its meetings welcomed nearly 1,000 attendees. The group consists of companies in the Kent area involved in construction, such as architects, surveyors, contractors, construction suppliers and land agents etc.

The group provides a one-stop-shop for access to local knowledge, expertise and contacts within the land development and construction sector. In addition, it promotes the future role of land development and construction businesses in the growth and development of Kent and its environment.

For more information and dates of future meetings, visit the Chamber's website.

The trophy has pride of place in Maxim's meeting room.
